Reflection
I chose the topic of this paper, Personality in Fairy Tales, due to my high interest in the social psychological advancements of our society. As society changes so does the way literature views certain aspects of society. Such as in Fables comics, Snow White has her own agency in the story which is more in common with the more open views about femininity in the current age compared to those of older tales, which rarely featured a female character who was entirely self-reliant. I believe that in examining various text from varying time periods the reader can accurately assess some of the views among the culture of time period even if it was not part of the prevailing thought process.
The sources I chose were two academic articles one being about part of the personality within the tale of "Little Red Riding Hood" and the other being about what morals the tale can actually teach the reader. I chose these because I believe that they compliment one another as, at least in my eyes, the personality can heavily dictate what morals are present within the story. This is mostly due to, in some fairy tales, the fallacies in some of the character's personalities, like in some tales negligence of a problem, being the cause for the moral of the story.

Images
I chose this illustration by Leonard Leslie Brooke because I thought it conveyed the sense of fear and predatory nature of the original tale very well. I believe it also encapsulates the powerful and fearful side of Bigby from the Fables comics incredibly well.
I chose this image from the actual Fables comics due to it showing some of the humor of Bigby (on the right) towards his fellow Fables and in this case it is towards Jack (on the left). It shows some of his humor that has earned him some disrespect from his fellow Fables because they believe he is being very rude bringing up events from the "Homeland."
This image was chosen for part of the Snow White section to display an innocence about Snow White as to emphasize the innocence of Snow White in the original tale in order to provide a more appealing contrast when compared to the image chosen from the Fables comics.
This image I felt captured the strong and bold nature of the Snow White from the Fables comics and introduced her dynamic superiority in Fabletown.
